Our Approach
Our Journey
The Indian Society of Neuroanaesthesiology and Critical Care (ISNACC) was established in 1999 with the vision of advancing the field of neuroanaesthesia and neurocritical care in India. The idea of forming a dedicated society was conceptualized by eminent neuroanaesthesiologists Dr. H. H. Dash, Dr. K. J. Choudhury, and Late Dr. (Brig) P. N. Bhatt, inspired by the international Society of Neuroanesthesiology and Critical Care (SNACC).
The inception of ISNACC can be traced back to the First International Symposium on Neuroanaesthesia and Critical Care organized by Prof. H. H. Dash at AIIMS, New Delhi, in February 1995. Following this, a group of dedicated neuroanaesthesiologists met at VIMHANS, New Delhi, in February 1999, and took the historic decision to form ISNACC, with moral support from Prof. A. K. Bannerji, then Director of VIMHANS.
The first ISNACC conference was successfully organized in September 1999 at GB Pant Hospital, Delhi, under the leadership of Dr. Mary Abraham as the Organizing Secretary. Since then, ISNACC has grown exponentially, hosting annual conferences across India, fostering knowledge exchange, and promoting research in neuroanaesthesia and critical care.
Education & Fellowships
Recognizing the need for structured training in neuroanaesthesia, ISNACC formed an Education Committee in 2008 to develop a standardized curriculum for postdoctoral training. In 2010, during the mid-term executive meeting in Kolkata, the decision to launch a one-year fellowship program was finalized. Institutions meeting ISNACC’s stringent criteria were permitted to offer this prestigious fellowship, ensuring high-quality training for budding neuroanaesthesiologists.
Global Affiliations & Collaborations
ISNACC has established strong ties with international societies, including:
Asian Society for Neuroanesthesiology and Critical Care (ASNACC)
Society for Neuroscience in Anesthesiology and Critical Care (SNACC)
These affiliations facilitate global knowledge exchange, collaborative research, and participation in international conferences.
The Way Forward
With the unwavering dedication of its members, ISNACC continues to expand its footprint in the global neuroanaesthesiology community. The society remains committed to education, research, and excellence in patient care, ensuring that India remains at the forefront of neuroanaesthesia and neurocritical care advancements.
Join us in our mission to shape the future of neuroanaesthesiology and critical care in India and beyond!
— Our Mission
To achieve the highest standard of practice and safety in neuroanaesthesia, neurocritical care, and pain management through advanced education and research in neurologically impaired patients.
— Our Objective
Encourage and facilitate the young members of the Society to improve their knowledge and skills in the field of Neuroanesthesiology and increase overall awareness and knowledge of the members.
